Michigan Legislature Passes Pieces Of Property And SUW Tax Payment Relief

On June 24, 2020, the Michigan legislature passed two pieces of tax relief legislation. First, due to COVID-19 shutdowns many businesses have earned virtually no revenue. As a result, for some businesses, their summer 2020 property tax bill will be an obligation that they simply will not be able to meet. House Bill 5761 addresses this dilemma by amending the General Property Tax Act to defer the deadline to pay summer 2020 property taxes until March 1, 2021.
