Deputy County Counsel III/IV - General Advisory Attorney

The County Counsel's Office is recruiting for Deputy County Counsel III General Advisory Attorney and Deputy County Counsel IV General Advisory Attorney.
Salary: $101,899.20 - $172,972.80
County Counsel Deputies practice in a variety of civil law areas and assignments which may include: employment; administrative law proceedings, civil rights; eminent domain; public entity liability; environmental/land use; workers compensation; taxation; juvenile, guardianship and conservatorship; appeals; arbitration/mediation; contract; business; transactional; procurement; technology; torts; personal injury; real estate and construction law.
Duties include drafting ordinances; preparing contracts; drafting, analyzing and interpreting legislation; researching and writing legal opinions; administrative hearings; and advising boards, departments, special districts, school districts and commissions on a wide variety of issues, including, but not limited to the Brown Act and Public Records Act.
Note: Current vacancies are to provide legal services to the General Unit with an emphasis on legal services for the Real Estate Services Department. The resulting eligibility list may be used to fill additional vacancies in the County Counsel’s Office as they may occur. Legal services to the Real Estate Services Department involve: negotiating and drafting purchase and sale agreements, licenses, leases, contracts, and easements; review of acquisitions following State and Federal requirements; public finance; and, Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act analysis.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Background: Applicants must pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting, prior to appointment.
Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.
Minimum Requirements:
Deputy County Counsel III -License: Active membership and in good standing with the State Bar of California.-AND-Experience: Thirty (30) months of full-time civil or criminal law work experience as an attorney. (Law Clerk, Intern and Volunteer Attorney experience is not qualifying).
Deputy County Counsel IV-License: Active membership and in good standing with the State Bar of California.-AND-Experience: Four (4) years of full-time civil or criminal law experience as an attorney (Law Clerk, Intern and Volunteer Attorney experience is not qualifying).
