Assistant Chief, Special Civil Part

The New Jersey Judiciary seeks an experienced professional with excellent leadership, managerial and communication skills to serve as the Assistant Chief, Special Civil Part in the Civil Practice Division. Under the direction of the Court Executive 2B, the Assistant Chief will assist in the management of the Special Civil Part dockets (DC, Smalls Claims and Landlord Tenant).  
NOTE:This position also may qualify for remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access. This program does not supersede the “New Jersey First Act”, which requires newly hired Judiciary employees to establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
Effective August 20, 2021, the New Jersey Judiciary will require all state court judges and staff to provide to Human Resources either (1) proof of vaccination against COVID-19; or (2) results of weekly tests for COVID-19. This information will be maintained in a secure Judiciary application that will be accessible by a limited group of Human Resources staff.
Example of Duties:
This professional must possess broad knowledge of Special Civil Part practice to: 
* Oversee the development and implementation of Special Civil Part policies and programs statewide 
* Interact with judges, court staff, attorneys and litigants
* Work closely with Special Civil Part Officers, the Special Civil Part Supervising Judges Committee, Special Civil Part Management Committee, Special Civil Part Practice Committee, Conference of Civil Division Managers and other committees and working groups, as assigned 
* Recommend improvements to Judiciary procedures, programs, case processing, electronic filing systems, trainings and court rules 
* Draft related policies, memorandums, directives, notices to bar and court rule amendments 
* Provide training to court staff and others regarding the Special Civil Part areas and special programs 
* Analyze statistical data to assist the vicinages with case management 
* Identify issues in statistical reports that may require policy or procedural changes
* Perform other related duties as assigned
Salary range is $88,287.40 - $134,195.79. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range.
Qualifications: Graduation from an American Bar Association-approved law school and five (5) years of professional administrative and/or program management experience; three (3) of which shall have included practice of law as an attorney.License: Attorney-at-Law with a plenary license in the State of New Jersey and having Supreme Court Good Standing Status of Active.
