Deputy General Counsel

Garrison & Sisson has been exclusively engaged to assist the Obama Foundation in its search for a Deputy General Counsel.  Reporting directly to the Foundation’s General Counsel, the DGC will assume responsibility for oversight of all Obama Presidential Center related legal workstreams and management of legal personnel.  Global in scope, the Foundation’s mission and activities encompass the design, construction and operation of the Obama Presidential Center as well as a full slate of domestic and international civic engagement programming.
Selective Responsibilities Include:

Leading policy or process improvement initiatives in collaboration with the GC to ensure that the Foundation’s legal strategy addresses all issues and is consistently and effectively updated, implemented and enforced

Serving as the substantive legal expert in all 501(c)(3) compliance matters

Requirements: 

Minimum of eight plus years of relevant practice experience, ideally including prior experience with an AmLaw 50 law firm as well as tenure in a for-profit or not-for-profit entity

Expertise in 501(c)(3) compliance
