As a member of Georgia House Counsel, this attorney will be based in Alpharetta and will be responsible for defending Chubb’s insureds in a variety of litigation with a primary focus on employment litigation in Federal Court and charges of discrimination before the EEOC and governing agencies.  A secondary focus will be on supporting and assisting with thefirm’s handling of casualty cases in state and Federal Court. Specific duties will include: trial work, conducting and defending depositions and engaging in other pre-trial discovery, drafting pleadings, engaging in motion practice,researching, briefing and arguing appellate matters, appearing in administrative agency matters, negotiating settlements, generating reports and evaluations on assigned cases.
Applicant must be a member of the State Bar of Georgia and be admitted to practice in all Georgia State and Federal Courts. Admission to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals is preferred.  Must have at least 5+ years of employment litigation and private practice experience. Additional insurance defense experience including in negligence, products and premises liability, property damage and automobile accidents is preferable.Must have strong knowledge of current procedural and substantive law, as well as Federal, state and administrative agency rules.  Must be able to demonstrate effective oral and written advocacy skills and negotiationtactics.  Must have an ability to apply analytical skills in addressing complex legal issues and developing case strategies.  Must be able and willing to proactively, communicate with clients, claims department staff andother members of House Counsel.  Must be able to work independently and manage case load with assistance from other lawyers and staff.
