Conflicts & Business Intake Compliance Counsel

Duane Morris LLP, a full-service law firm with more than 800 attorneys in offices across the U.S. and around the globe, offers innovative solutions to the legal and business challenges presented by today’s evolving global markets.  We are currently seeking a Conflicts & Business Intake Compliance Counsel who will be responsible for identifying potential conflicts of interest arising out of new business intake and the hiring of lawyers and staff joining the firm.  The role of Conflicts & Business Intake Compliance Counsel is a well-respected professional legal position within the Firm’s Legal Department.  Compliance Counsel provide legal advice, guidance and instruction to the Firm’s lawyers and staff to address potential conflicts and provide support to the Office of General Counsel in implementing risk management strategies relating to new business intake and hiring, as well as other legal matters involving the Firm.
JD with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience practicing law and/or working on a conflicts team is required.  Member of the State Bar of PA, CA, IL, NY, Maryland or DC in good standing.  Adherence to highest ethical standards. Strong organizational and planning skills, including the ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete under time constraints.  Strong interpersonal skills essential to permit effective communication in person, by email and telephone with a diverse group of lawyers and staff.  The ability to explain complex concepts and negotiate resolutions of conflicts and ethics issues. Prior experience as a conflicts review lawyer or analyst, or experience in legal ethics, conflicts analysis and/or review, representation of law firms and the like highly preferred.  Limited domestic travel may be required.
