Growing administrator and provider of vehicle protection and purchase products has an immediate opening for an associate attorney in our northern New Jersey office. The applicant selected will join our growing team and be responsible for providing a variety of legal services to multiple entities. This new full-time career position was specifically created for the next member of our team as a result of the sustained growth of our company. The ideal candidate for this position has a passion for all things legal, has an entrepreneurial spirit, and enjoys working closely with business professionals as a team player. Compliance, automotive, and/or insurance experience a plus.
Summary of Duties:
· Assist in protecting various companies’ legal interests and maintain operations within scope established by law
· Provide hands on counsel to various departments and executive staff
· Identify and analyze legal issues and ensure compliance
· Negotiate and draft various agreements
· Develop policies and provide training to the company on legal topics
· Practice areas include: corporate, contract, insurance, compliance, general commercial, litigation, employment
Requirements:
· Must have a JD from an ABA accredited law school
· Must be admitted and in good standing with the NJ or NY bar
· Must have 3+ years of experience in a law firm or in-house
· Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to write and communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization
· Strong negotiating skills with both legal and financial/commercial issues
· Strong critical thinking, research, and organization skills
· Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization’s legal department and across all businesses
· Ability to manage and prioritize work in a very fast paced environment
· Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
· Technologically savvy and detail oriented
Preferences:
· Clerkship preferred
· Automotive, compliance, and/or insurance background preferred
