Homelessness Prevention / Eviction Defense (Full-Time Positions)
Want to help end homelessness in Los Angeles?
Apply now to join the passionate and talented team of eviction defense attorneys at Inner City Law Center, a nonprofit, poverty-law firm, located on Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles. As Los Angeles looks to create a Right to Counsel for those facing eviction, we are looking for extraordinary attorneys to expand our eviction defense practice and help end homelessness in Los Angeles.
Position Description: Every day, in Los Angeles County, 133 people exit homelessness – but over 150 people become homeless. The best way to end homelessness is to prevent it from happening in the first place. For many of our clients, preventing eviction from their homes is life-changing because it keeps them from becoming homeless. We are looking for attorneys at all levels of experience to represent tenants in danger of losing their homes by negotiating with opposing counsel; preparing discovery requests and responses; drafting pleading motions and correspondence; negotiating settlements; conducting unlawful detainer trials; and pursuing appellate remedies.
In addition to carrying their own caseloads, our eviction defense team works closely with volunteer attorneys from private law firms who provide pro bono representation to clients facing eviction.
