The ADA is the nation's largest dental association, representing over 163,000 dentist members and supporting those dentists with all aspects of oral health, the science of dentistry, and their dental practices. ADA lawyers provide legal support to the various divisions and agencies within the ADA, including four subsidiaries, the Board of Trustees, and twenty different councils, commissions, and committees.
The Associate General Counsel will be responsible for providing legal services and counseling for various ADA entities, focusing on general corporate (including nonprofit) law, tax and other financial matters, governance, risk management, contracts, member insurance and retirement programs, as well as corporate social responsibility and philanthropy.
Minimum Qualifications:

Juris Doctor
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the areas of general corporate, contract, and tax law
Admission to Illinois Bar
Must have the ability to be proactive and reactive
Must have the ability to analyze, identify and make recommendations on legal issues
Must be able to assess risks and identify alternative approaches.
Must have the ability to analyze corporate, financial, tax, business and other issues
Must be able to work as part of a team.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must have knowledge of general corporate, contract, and tax law.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
Must be able to travel 5 - 15% of the time plus attend the ADA Annual Meeting for 8 consecutive days.

Highly Desirable Skills:

Experience in accounting and financial issues
Experience working with nonprofit organizations, governance, antitrust, healthcare, corporate boards and/or senior management.
