JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the General Counsel, the Assistant General Counsel assists in managing the Authority’s Legal Department, collaborates with Special Counsel and Bond Counsel’s legal services; prepares for Board meetings; provides legal advice; drafts purchasing and other agreements and contracts; manages and responds to OPRA requests; assists with procurement function; manages insurance and risk management; negotiates complex transactions, supervises paralegals and interns, may serve as the Ethics Liaison Officer, Records Custodian, and/or Compliance Officer; performs other related work as required.
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) Admission to practice as an Attorney at Law in the State of New Jersey is required.
EXPERIENCE: At least ten (10) years of public body governance experience (supporting/counseling) in a governmental or private sector organization or major law firm. At least five (5) years of experience managing a law department staff with increasing levels of responsibility.
PREFERENCE: Preference will be given to applicants with experience representing public boards, real estate/land use, drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts.
