The Office of the Legal Adviser of the Department of State seeks an attorney with at least 3 years of relevant experience to handle issues related to Bureau of Medical Services (MED).
Salary: GS Level 13-15 (salary range $102,663-$170,800), commensurate with experience. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, have a J.D. degree, and be a member in good standing of a state bar.
Applicants should have significant legal experience in administrative law and expertise in medical issues, including medical privacy and health care operations. Experience in employment law and litigation strongly preferred.
The position does not have primary responsibility for tort claims, although some knowledge of medical malpractice issues is a plus. Applicants must have an outstanding record of academic and professional achievement, and possess excellent analytical, writing, organizational, and interpersonal communications skills, suitable for working successfully with policy-makers and senior-level officials.
The successful applicant will be a self-starter, able to handle a wide variety of assignments with short, time-critical deadlines, as well as design and execute substantial analytical projects.
* At least 3 years of experience required, 5+ years preferred.
* Experience in medical law and ability to work independently in a regulatory environment is key.
* Current security clearance is preferred; ability to obtain security clearance is required.
* Must be a U.S. citizen.
