In-house Attorney - Commercial Contracts- Jersey City and Boston

 Scope
Volante Technologies is a global provider of technology products and solutions to the financial services industry. We are looking to recruit an experienced commercial contracts attorney to strengthen our busy in-house legal function as it scales to meet the needs of our rapidly growing business.
This is a mid-level position, with a primary focus on provision of legal support to our operations in North America, although support for other regions will also form part of the role.
  Location
We are looking to expand our team both in Jersey City and Boston. There will be possibility of remote work if necessary.
Reporting line
The successful candidate will be sole in-house counsel in the US, reporting to Volante’s General Counsel in the UK. They will work in close collaboration with both in-house colleagues and external legal counsel, as well as internal stakeholders across multiple business units and functional groups including Sales, Product, Finance, HR and Compliance.
Responsibilities
The main areas of activity and responsibility are as follows, although there is scope for the role to expand depending on business need and the successful candidate’s specific skill set/experience:
• Draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, with a focus on customer contracts for on-premise software, SaaS, managed services, software support and maintenance, and professional services. Other contracts in scope include agreements with key vendors and strategic partners.
• Contribute to the development and on-going review of relevant processes, policies and precedent agreements relating to Volante’s commercial contracting activities and the efficient delivery of legal services to the business. Responsible for ensuring compliance with such processes and policies
• Keep abreast of legislative changes that may affect the Volante group and communicate any likely impacts of changes in the law to relevant business stakeholders.
 Job Description
 Ideal core qualifications, experience, attributes, and skills
 • J.D. degree from ABA accredited law school.
 • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the areas of drafting and negotiating a range of commercial contracts, with a focus on software license agreements.
 • In-house experience is desirable; however, consideration will be given to private practice attorneys looking to move in-house who are able to point to good business and commercial skills.
• Experience working with organizations in the financial services industry is preferred, but not necessary for an exceptional candidate.
• Excellent negotiation and legal drafting skills.
 • Able to manage and prioritize multiple and varied negotiations with enthusiasm and attention to detail.
• Ability to analyze and balance complex business and legal issues/risks to advance practical solutions.
• Self-starting, driven and confident, but with a strong sense of the importance of teamwork.
 • Must possess a genuine drive to deliver high-quality, effective, and timely legal support to the business.
• Knowledge of data privacy laws is desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, as well as with external clients.
• Work effectively and efficiently with people in different geographical locations, cultures, and time zones.
• Must be able travel domestically and internationally on an occasional basis.
