Associate General Counsel, Compliance, Employment and Risk

Highly innovative technology company has retained Carpenter Legal Search, Inc. (“CLS”) to identify an Associate General Counsel, Compliance, Employment and Risk.
Overview: As this high functioning, fast-paced organization’s lead for compliance, employment and risk, this position is responsible for a broad range of the company’s global compliance and risk management strategies and activities. Reporting to the General Counsel, this position is a member of the management team for the Legal and IP Department.
Essential Functions: 

Ethics and compliance program. The Associate GC manages a strategic and comprehensive global ethics and compliance program that defines, develops, maintains, and implements ethics policies and processes. The Associate GC improves and maintains the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and related policies, and implements education and training across the globe. This role is responsible for the management and completion of investigations related to the ethics program, including recommending actions pursuant to investigations, and management of related communications and information. 
Employment legal support. The Associate GC oversees the team’s attorneys who support the area of employment law worldwide, providing legal advice and support related to employment policies and practices, hiring and on-boarding new employees, voluntary and involuntary terminations of employment, compensation and benefits matters, collective labor matters, and diversity and inclusion topics. The employment legal team also manages disputes related to current or former employees of the company in collaboration with the Human Resources team.
Privacy program. This team includes the attorneys and managers who support the area of privacy law and data protection worldwide. This program is an essential aspect across many compliance, employment, and dispute matters.
Dispute management. The Associate GC manages a broad range of disputes for the company, including commercial and other litigation in global locations.

Experience Required: First consideration will be given to candidates who have experience as a senior legal team member at a public technology company or to law firm partners who represent public technology clients and who possess a minimum of 15 years of legal experience with at least five years in global business ethics and compliance and additional experience in dispute management and employment matters.
Location: Greater Pittsburgh Region (telecommuting may be considered)
