MAGISTRATE COURT JUDGE
1 - FULL-TIME, INTERNAL PROMOTION ONLY 
2 - PART-TIME JUDGE POSITIONS AVAILABLE
The Magistrate Court of Fulton County is currently accepting applications for the appointment of one (1) full-time (INTERNAL PROMOTION ONLY) and two (2) part-time Magistrate Judges for the Atlanta Judicial Circuit.
The statutory qualifications for appointment to these positions are established by O.C.G.A. §15-10-22 and O.C.G.A. §15-6-4. Persons seeking appointment must be:
a county resident for one (1) year before the term begins, at least 30 years of age, a citizen of the state for three (3) years, duly reinstated to the practice of law in the event of disbarment and have practiced law for seven (7) years.
Qualified attorneys interested in serving should demonstrate increasingly responsible legal experience in both civil and criminal litigation.
A part-time magistrate is selected to serve on a periodic basis and is permitted to devote time to another profession or occupation, including the private practice of law. Part-time Magistrate Judges, however, shall not practice law in Fulton County State, Superior or Magistrate Courts.
Magistrate Court's jurisdiction includes civil claims of $15,000.00 or less, county ordinance violations, applications for and issuance of arrest and search warrants, first appearance and preliminary hearings, abandoned motor vehicles, and landlord-tenant and garnishment actions.
The Magistrate Court of Fulton County offers judicial assistance to Superior Court in criminal matters upon request.

Full-time magistrate letters of interest are due noon on November 20, 2020
