We have been retained by FlightSafety International, the premier professional aviation training company and supplier of flight simulators, visual systems and displays, to recruit a Senior Legal Counsel for its Commercial business unit located in Columbus, Ohio.  Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of substantive M&A and commercial transactional experience.  Priority will be given to candidates with prior in-house experience, particularly those who have served as business unit counsel and are accustomed to handling a variety of day-to-day legal issues. Aviation experience is beneficial but is not required.  Experience with trade compliance and/or employment issues would be an asset as well. 
This position will report directly to the company’s General Counsel and will be responsible for managing all legal matters within the Commercial business unit including drafting/reviewing/negotiating training, OEM and other commercial agreements, supporting M&A transactions, providing hands-on legal and business advice in connection with commercial decisions, managing litigation, providing counsel regarding employment law matters and ensuring compliance with applicable trade laws and anti-corruption regulations.  The ability to issue-spot and elevate matters as needed in a variety of areas will be essential.  This attorney will also have the opportunity to devote a portion of his/her time to special company-wide legal projects. 
This role will require an adaptable and flexible attorney who will be motivated to assume additional responsibilities over time.  The successful candidate will be someone who is eager to take ownership of projects and be able to work autonomously; but who also possesses the potential to lead others and collaborate effectively within the growing legal team and the organization as a whole.
