Government Investigation & White Collar Associate

The Washington DC office of Squire Patton Boggs is actively recruiting a mid-level associate with four or more years of relevant experience to join our dynamic Government Investigations/White Collar Litigation practice. Relevant government experience is a plus. The position will be based in the Washington DC office, and likely will involve travel.
ResponsibilitiesThe individual hired for this position will support and work directly with numerous partner-level litigators handling government investigations and white collar criminal litigation. Responsibilities will include:  conducting legal and factual research; drafting motions, legal memoranda, investigation reports, and correspondence; managing discovery and other case responsibilities; reviewing documents and financial transactions; working with consultants and experts; and interviewing witnesses. Academic and Professional Qualifications

Possess a JD from an accredited law school and a strong academic record. Preference given to the top 20% of graduating class or GPA of 3.5 and above.
Must be admitted to a US state bar and be in good standing. Admission to the District of Columbia is expected if not currently admitted.
A minimum of four years of current experience working in a law firm or government agency with white collar government investigations experience involving money laundering, economic sanctions, fraud, securities violations, or other comparable areas of criminal law.

 
Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Experienced in all substantive areas of complex government investigations and white collar criminal litigation including: legal and factual research, written discovery, depositions, motions practice (discovery, dispositive and trial related motions), client and witness interviews, and trial preparation.
Experience/working knowledge of federal criminal and civil procedure.
Excellent organizational, reasoning and research skills; excellent written and verbal communication abilities; mature judgment; attention to detail; initiative.
Flexibility, composure and the ability to prioritize and handle urgent tasks and requests simultaneously with a high level of competence and accuracy; the ability to remain composed and professional under stressful circumstances; commitment to ethical and confidentiality requirements; strong client service skills.
Ability to work without supervision, demonstrating initiative in seeking work and managing work load; active in formulating and recommending projects or alternative ways to complete projects that will benefit the case/client.
A background in business banking, finance, economics, accounting, or a foreign language is a plus.
