THE OPPORTUNITY:
Our national Innovative Staffing Team (IST) is an elite “swat team” of Labor and Employment lawyers who want the flexibility of an hourly position but want the advantage and excitement of working with the best employment team in the country. We now have over 40 IST lawyers around the country, and we are attracting former in house lawyers, former partners in firms, and former associates who want the experience of working on exciting matters but not the demands of a full time, partner track position. Each of our IST lawyers are tied directly to one of our national offices.  We are expanding this team and invite you to learn more about this unique opportunity.
Candidates should have familiarity with and experience in federal court practice, as well as with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Department of Labor, and other federal, state and local government administrative agencies.
Candidates should also have litigation experience, including drafting responsive pleadings, handling all aspects of the discovery process, and drafting motions, including motions for summary judgment. Candidates should have the ability to handle a practice that includes handling DOL Audits and EEOC charges, including defending investigations, preparing position statements, defending clients in fact-finding conferences and on-site visits, representing clients in mediations and conciliations, and negotiating settlements.
Our Labor & Employment Department is consistently ranked at or near the top in labor and employment law rankings regionally, nationally and internationally by Chambers, The Legal 500, Law360, U.S. News& World Report: Best Lawyers, The National Law Journal, and BTI Consulting Group across multiple practice areas. Chambers USA ranks Seyfarth among the top L&E firms nationally, and we are one of only three firms that have been ranked by The Legal 500 in all six national Labor & Employment categories. We are routinely recognized by Law360 as an “Employment Practice Group of the Year,” and our employment litigation capabilities have earned us recognition in the annual BTI Litigation Outlook as a “Standout" Employment Litigation Practice.
YOU HAVE:

5+ years of increasingly responsible employment litigation experience, preferably on the management-side.

A collegiate, cooperative approach and enjoy working with experienced lawyers sharing ideas, resources and best practices.

A desire to work on exciting matters without the demands of a full-time, on track position.

Strong time management skills, and a flexibility around potential work flow.  There is no billable hours expectation, and your schedule is up to you! Ideally, however, we would like candidates to commit to being available to work 1000 or more hours per hours a year depending on the specific casework.
An active bar license in the state in which you will reside.
