Attorney II/III (Litigation)

The East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD), one of the largest and most innovative public water and wastewater utilities in the United States, is seeking a highly motivated and public service-oriented attorney to join a team of seasoned legal staff in its Office of General Counsel. Under general direction of the General Counsel, this Attorney will focus on litigation matters and join a staff of seven other attorneys who advise and represent EBMUD in a variety of legal matters. The position will be filled at either the Attorney II or Attorney III level depending upon the qualifications and experience of the selected individual. The most competitive candidates will have previous experience in civil litigation or administrative hearing practice, including law and motion, and discovery; municipal or public agency law, including issues arising under open government and public records laws, and other laws that apply to public entities located within California.
Requirements include a JD from an accredited law school and a minimum of three years of professional experience in public or other applicable areas of law. Candidates must be licensed to practice law in California and possess technical competency in preparing, presenting, and conducting cases; presenting clear and logical statements of fact, law, and argument in written and oral form; analyzing and drafting resolutions and regulations; performing legal research; and communicating effectively, clearly, and concisely both orally and in writing.
