The Washington, DC office of Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP is in search of a full-time Patent Attorney, Patent Agent or prior USPTO Patent Examiner with specific expertise in Organic Chemistry to work in the Patent Practice of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group.

Responsibilities include writing and prosecuting patent applications directed to pharmaceutical and large chemical compounds. Candidates must have at least an M.S. degree in Chemistry or Organic Chemistry, OR a Bachelor’s degree with significant synthetic organic chemistry experience in a corporation or

laboratory; a strong technical understanding of the issues of pharmaceutical

formulations/synthetic organic chemistry; plus 2 to 3 years of application preparation and

prosecution experience (e.g., have drafted 5 or more patent applications from invention

disclosures). The successful candidate also will have excellent writing skills. Prior U.S. Patent

and Trademark Office (USPTO) work experience, while not required, is highly preferred.
