Contract Attorney at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP (New York, NY)

The New York office of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP is seeking a highly qualified contract attorney with a minimum of 5 years of commercial litigation, transactional, and government contract experience, focused on the construction, public infrastructure and/or transportation sector(s).

The ideal candidate will have superior research, analysis and writing skills including drafting of both formal and informal motions and submission in a variety of dispute resolution proceedings concerning construction and/or public procurement matters with regard to interpretation of specifications, project delay, extra-contractual work, and construction defects, for submission to local and state agency dispute resolution boards, state and federal court, and ADR. Candidates must also have experience appearing before courts and boards including motion practice with respect to these types of disputes.


Preferred candidates will have basic knowledge of and familiarity with some or all of the following: construction contract review and drafting; government contracting; local, state or federal procurement regulations including FARs; Buy America requirements.

Requirements

  • NY Bar Membership in good standing
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial litigation experience with a focus on construction, public infrastructure, and/or transportation


Successful Candidates Will Have:

  • Superior research and writing skills with respect to ADR and court motions and briefs concerning construction work disputes, delay and defects, and experience arguing motions with respect to such subject matter
  • Experience in construction contract review/drafting, and knowledge of government contracting regulations
  • Excellent academic credentials
